Overview
Group training sessions are conducted on a weekly basis and should
begin once the weather allows for it. Check the schedule below for
tentative start dates. Also check the News
for any one-time specialfor any one-time special training sessions or events that we may conduct
throughout the year.
Attention !
Any member who wishes to join in our group rides or swim workouts during the
2008 tri season must fill out the appropriate release forms in
order to be allowed to participate. You can download the appropriate forms below
to sign and hand in at the next workout you attend, or waivers will be on-hand
for you to sign on location.

Group Workouts
North Andover Group Ride -
Saturday morning rides now begin at 7:30AM from the Hermann Youth Center
Parking Lot at 33 Johnson St North Andover Mass. These rides are 30.5 miles
through Boxford and Georgetown and are for all levels of riders and will
continue through the end of September.
Directions:
- Take I-495
- Take exit 43 (MASS. AVE.) towards N. ANDOVER, go 0.1 mi
- Bear towards MASS. AVE./N. ANDOVER - go < 0.1 mi
- Continue on MASSACHUSETTS AVE - go 1.6 mi
- Continue on SALEM ST - go 0.1 mi
- Arrive at 33 JOHNSON ST, NORTH ANDOVER

Swimming Workouts
Stiles Pond, Boxford
Note: park in the boat launch parking lot. The other lot (if opened is for a
private beach. Please stay off the beach, it is private. There is a path in the
woods that leads to the pond without going onto the beach.

Triathlon Basics for Success
An 8 week training program for adults to get in shape and successfully
complete their triathlon goals
When: June 1- July 20th, Tuesday Evenings 6:30- 8:00
Where: Andover YMCA
Price: $150 members, $200 nonmembers

- Basic Overview - planning your training, equipment needs, setting achievable
goals
- Running Basics
- Cycling Basics
- Swimming Basics in Pool (Lawrence Y - 7:30 - 8:30 schedule)
- Open Water Swimming Basics (Captain's Pond, Salem, NH)
- Strength and Core Basics for Better Performance
- Transition Area and "Bricks"
- Grand Finale - Race Day
Coached Workouts beginning July 1, 2010:
Workouts for triathletes, runners, cyclists, swimmers - 8 week sessions
Options: Participation levels (for 8-week session)
Level 1 - One Workout Per Week - $75 for 8 weeks (YMCA Members); $125
(non-members)
Level 2 - Two Workouts Per Week - $125 for 8 weeks (YMCA Members); $175
(non-members)
Level 3 - Unlimited Workouts Per Week - $165 for 8 weeks (YMCA Members); $220
(non-members
Note: Levels 1 and 2 participants can attend different workouts each week (For
example you can go to a swim workout the first week, then attend the strength
training workout the next.)
Weekly Workout Schedule
Mondays 7:00- 8:40 p.m. / Fridays 6:00 to 7:00 a.m. Strength Training for
Triathletes/Athletes Andover YMCA. This workout is designed to enhance
functional strength for all 3 triathlon disciplines and core strength beneficial
to all athletes. Workouts include plyometrics, "bricks", balance, agility, and
core strength training to increase speed and power as well as prevent sport
injuries.
Wednesdays 6:30 - 8:00 a.m. Coached Indoor Swim Workouts Lawrence YMCA. Coached
workouts including both technique and fitness work. Swimmers will periodically
get videotaped for stroke analysis and feedback.
Thursdays 6:15-7:15 a.m. Coached Open Water Swim Skills Captains Pond, Salem NH.
Coached workouts include open water skill work including sighting, pacing,
drafting, group swimming, general open water stroke technique work, and swim
fitness work. (Aug 5, Aug 12, Aug 19)
Thursdays 6:15-8:00p.m. Outdoor Cycling Workouts Andover YMCA Technique, skill,
and fitness work. Workouts include hill repast, intervals, sprint intervals, and
time trials. Periodically workouts finish with indoor cycling specific strength
work. Workouts are at individual pace, all levels are welcome. |
